From Lou Doll...The Building Trades Medical Screening
Program
If you worked at the Department of
Energy’s General Electric Evendale, OHsite (aka Air Force Plant 36) between 1961 and 1994, then you
may be eligible for a FREE medical screening program to determine if your
health was affected by your work.
The Building Trades Medical Screening
Program has served thousands of DOE construction workers to detect
work-related health problems and has made it possible for many workers to
file a claim with the Department of Labor under the EEOICPA, an act that
compensates former DOE workers with a covered illness.
For more information about the program
call Lou Doll at 513-681-0864 or go to

GE Global Health Plan participants will now be
able to utilize the online Expert Medical Opinion program, as both
eCleveland Clinic and Center for Connected Health are able to accept
requests from most countries outside of the U.S.
If you or your dependents are diagnosed with a life-changing or
life-threatening condition, you want the best care you can get. Through GE's
"Expert Medical Opinion" program, you can request a second opinion from
leading medical experts at The Cleveland Clinic and Center for Connected
Health (affiliates of Harvard Medical School, including Massachusetts
General and Brigham and Women's).
With Expert Medical Opinion, you become a patient of a top specialist,
without waiting weeks for an appointment or traveling far from home. GE
covers the full cost of these services for employees and their dependents
enrolled in the GE Global Health Plan.
A second opinion from these medical leaders can confirm or alter a diagnosis
or treatment plan, and help you make the best decisions for managing your
condition. You'll receive a comprehensive evaluation of your condition,
along with treatment recommendations - just as if you saw the doctor in
person.
With either Expert Medical Opinion program, you begin online at the
program's Web site, where you will be guided step-by-step through the
process.

Have you noticed the flags at
the gates in Evendale?
Thanks to a best practice from our Madisonville, Ky.,
facility, the EHS team has implemented a visual
notification system to indicate when an OSHA recordable
injury occurs. A green
flag indicates no OSHA
recordable for the past 24 hours and a
red
flag indicates that an OSHA
recordable injury has occurred. To find out more about
the new safety notification system and to track when the
flag turns red, click
here
to visit the Evendale EHS website.
Make a pledge each day to a safer work environment, for
yourself and your coworkers. Thanks for your efforts and
commitment to a better future.

Village of Evendale Tax Adjustments in April / May
Paychecks
An email was recently sent about the increase in the
Village of Evendale earnings tax rate to 1.2% (up from
9%) that became effective January 1, 2005.
This change was implemented on February 28. As a result,
employees did not have sufficient city tax withheld in
their January and February paychecks. For those who do
not live in areas that have full tax reciprocity with
the Village of Evendale, a "catch-up" withholding is
required to bring your year-to-date Evendale tax
withholding in line with the new 2005 rate.
This is to remind you that the catch-up adjustment will
be split over two pay periods, in paychecks for April
and May. The adjustment will be displayed under the
Evendale tax line on the Pay Summary.
