Thank you again for taking part in Union Veterans 2008.
We'd like your help as a union veteran in shaping the main priorities of the Union Veterans 2008 program.
Please click here to take our very short follow-up survey today.
And pass this along to everyone you know who is a union veteran—we want to hear from them, too.
Dear Union Member,
It’s time for you, our veterans, to tell us what you think. What issues are most important to you? Are you optimistic about the future? Which issues are most important to you as you make your decisions for the 2008 elections?
And what should be the highest priorities for our Union Veterans 2008 program?
Veterans need policies that promote access to good jobs, protection of their re-employment rights and better education and training benefits through an updated G.I. Bill. They also need a fully funded Veterans Affairs health care program.
We are calling for working families to join our campaign and speak out to hold government and candidates accountable on the needs of our returning veterans—not only during the 2008 campaign but also beyond the elections.
With so many new challenges facing veterans, we ask for your participation in our quick follow-up Union Veterans 2008 Survey:
Gordon Pavy
Director, Collective Bargaining Dept.
U.S. Navy, PO2 (1969-1973)
P.S. Please pass this survey along to other union veterans.

MAXIMIZE YOUR BENEFITS TODAY FOR TOMORROW WORKSHOP
Find out how to get the
most out of your benefits at "Maximizing Your Benefits Today for Tomorrow"
workshop presented by GE U.S. Employee Services. This free, one-day
workshop, available to all active employees, will be held on both
Saturday, August 23, 2008 and
Sunday, August 24, 2008 at the Learning
Centre, Sanford Moss Hall (Please note the course content is the same on
both days, merely offering on a different day for attendance
accommodation).
The one-day workshop is
broken into two sessions:
The
morning session will be held
from 8:00
a.m. to 11:45 a.m.
and is designed to help all employees (recently hired or
long service)
better understand the benefit plans available to them so they can maximize
their coverage or options for the future. You're never too young or old
to take advantage of this opportunity!
The
afternoon session will be
held from
12:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
and is designed for those who are closer to retirement (generally within
1-2 years) and
want more information about what options will be available at that time.
You can choose to attend
the morning, the afternoon or both sessions.
Topics in both sessions
include: GE Pension Plan, Savings and Security Program, GE Medical Care
Options and Life Insurance. The morning session will also include
discussions on other important GE Benefits. Social Security is discussed
in the afternoon session. Attendees should bring their most current GE
Personal Share Statement, available at

From Lou Doll...The Building Trades Medical
Screening Program
If you worked at the Department of
Energy’s General Electric Evendale, OHsite (aka Air Force Plant 36) between 1961 and 1994, then you
may be eligible for a FREE medical screening program to determine if your
health was affected by your work.
The Building Trades Medical Screening
Program has served thousands of DOE construction workers to detect
work-related health problems and has made it possible for many workers to
file a claim with the Department of Labor under the EEOICPA, an act that
compensates former DOE workers with a covered illness.
For more information about the program
call Lou Doll at 513-681-0864 or go to
