REPORT YOUR INJURIES….If you are injured on the job, immediately report that injury to the medical department.  If you are an off shift employee, report it to the IAM 162 represented fire personal.  Phone 3-3303 for help, or 3-2323 for emergency help.  If you delay reporting an injury, there is more likelihood of a questioned claim.  For Worker Compensation help, call Court Lillard, 513-708-6180 on 1st shift, or Butch Hennika, 513-366-8101 on 2nd shift.  Remember, do not delay reporting any work injury.

Here you will find tips for surviving an injury on the job, useful forms, important documents and letters that you will need to get you through the Workmen's Compensation System.

Please contact your Work Comp or Safety Representatives immediately if you have a work related accident.  It is important that you document the date and time of the injury and make sure that is reported at GE Medical.  Fill out the appropriate  IAM accident forms, noting any conditions and witnesses.  Call your contactsThey are there to help.

Hospitals Reap Huge Profits from the
Ohio Workers' Comp System

An analysis of Ohio workers' comp billing records by Care for Ohio, which was recently featured in the Columbus Dispatch, suggests that the Bureau of Workers' Compensation has become the hospital industry's "cash cow." Read more to learn how this happened.

Are hospitals truly charitable institutions or just big businesses that don't pay taxes?

Ohio's non-profit hospitals receive special tax breaks that add up to nearly a billion dollars a year.  But what are Ohio's taxpayers getting in return?  Read about it in "Crossing the Line".

Thanks to "Care for Ohio" and their website!

...and for more information about Worker's Comp, see our Work Comp page.

If you are off of work due to an injury, please read the letter below.  Note that the highlighted areas  will be filled in when you receive this letter.  Make sure that all time is covered by your doctor.  If that time is not accounted for, then in all likelihood you will not be paid for that time.  If you have any questions about this letter, contact a Work Comp Rep!  It may make your return to work a bit less traumatic!.......

Return to Work Guidelines Letter  (Revised 1/04)......
We have had hard working employees go off on short term absences and when they come back eager to work, they have had a difficult time getting through the GE personnel departmental  manager.  He seems to think that if the above form is not perfectly filled out, then the employee has no rights to return to work, even if the doctor has all of the information on separate forms.  There is a meeting with management soon to fix this problem.  Should not the personnel manager help the employee instead of being rude and uncooperative This IAM Union believes so!

If an employee becomes disabled....

I've been hurt on the job!  What do I do now?    Most workers have had the good fortune of never being injured on the job.  But what if you just did get hurt?  Would you know what to do?  Do you know the steps involved?  What about a minor fall, cut or knock on the head?  What about a major life threatening injury? Take a look at this chart (the link below) before you have to ask yourself, "What should I do?"
